The Operations Division is the backbone of every police department. The Executive Officer of our Operations Division is Lieutenant Joseph Clymore who has been serving the citizens of Somerville for 29 years. Operations contains both the Patrol and Traffic Units and the officers assigned to these divisions answer all the calls for service, provide routine patrol and traffic enforcement.  We have 4 shifts in patrol, each with 4 officers and a sergeant. The Traffic Unit contains two officers that work the dayshift side of the patrol schedule.  The officers in patrol work 12 hour days, 2 on 2 off, work every other weekend, rotating shifts.
